Hallo Leuts,

AGCO brand to be dropped
TractorData - November 17, 2009
Canadian Cattleman, among other publications, is reporting on the elimination of the AGCO brand. AGCO is planning a reduction of brands, including the AGCO brand itself, although full details are not yet available. AGCO produces tractors under the AGCO, Challenger, Fendt, Massey Ferguson, and Valtra brands. It also maintains the AGCO-Allis brand in Argentina.
The AGCO corporation can trace its roots back to the Allis-Chalmers company. The Allis-Chalmers agricultural equipment division was sold to Deutz in 1985. The company was operated as Deutz-Allis until 1990. At the time, the North American management team purchased the company back from Deutz. The company was re-named as the Allis-Gleaner company (Gleaner had been the Allis combine brand) and the name Allis-Gleaner Company was later shortened to AGCO.
AGCO initially sold tractors under the AGCO-Allis and AGCO-White brands, after purchasing the White tractor line in 1991. Massey Ferguson was acquired in 1993. The AGCO-Allis and AGCO-White brands were dropped from North America in 2001, being replaced by the AGCO Tractor brand.
